Disneyland Backstage Magazine for Cast Members, Winter 1976-1977
Backstage Disneyland (Winter 1976-1977)
24 pages + covers, 11" x 8.5"
This fully illustrated issue of the magazine for Disneyland cast members features a colorful cover photograph of the Disneyland Christmas Parade. Inside are illustrated news for staff, cartoons, and humorous features, including what might happen if "Animation Comes to Life" in the Park; captioned photographs from current Disney films; a "Jungle Cruise Update" (always a hoot); Lost and Found letters; Backstage Awards; and more.
That said, there are two very nice, straight articles. "All in the Disney Family" by Pam Doyle looks at the multifaceted, interwoven Disney enterprises. "They Shine on Any Stage" pays tribute to the musicians of the Disneyland Pearly Band—Jack Martin, Bill Cooper, Jackie Coon, Ron Rowe, Harry Marshall, and Art Dragon. The Pearly Band performed primarily in New Orleans Square and provided the kind of musical entertainment that Walt Disney wanted for that new area of the Park when he signed them up in 1966.
