Disneyland and Walt Disney World issued these handsome invitations to the Saturday, June 18, 1977 and Saturday, June 11, 1977 Premiere Performances of the "all new" Main Street Electrical Parade, the most popular parade in Disney Parks history. The Main Street Electrical Parade debuted at Disneyland on June 17, 1972 and ran continuously in summer until it was replaced by the American Bicentennial celebration America on Parade in 1975 and 1976. It returned to Disneyland on June 18, 1977 with a new edition and ran until 1996.

The June 11th performance at Walt Disney World marked the debut of the Main Street Electrical Parade at Walt Disney World, "the newest nitetime spectacular in the Magic Kingdom." In addition, an "Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social" followed in the Plaza Pavilion. The parade ran until 1991.

Mounted in the front cover of both invitations is a color transparency of the engine and lead train engine and title cars in the parade. RSVP cards were included when the invitations were sent to special invitees, yet they are not included with these invitations.
